Transit Uranus Square Natal Pluto in Virgo Is Big
During the 7 years under review, we can expect greater emphasis on intelligence gathering, exposure of hidden sponsors of violence, discovery of financial and logistical support networks behind insecurity, improved understanding of smuggling and trafficking routes, a significant shift from fighting symptoms to understanding systems and addressing root causes, more and decisive attention to information warfare, cyber insecurity, misinformation/disinformation, fake news and perception management as Uranus turns on the light on hidden narratives and their spinners. Discovery of hidden illicit drugs’ manufacturers, their logistical networks and routes are some benefits to look forward to.
Nigeria’s Security Challenge
Pluto in Aquarius 8th and Uranus in Gemini 12th: A compelling collaborative duo
Terrorism wasn’t always a global phenomenon. Today it has metastasized like cancer cells. Much like biological cancer cells that result from a systemic failure of cellular cooperation, terrorist cells also take advantage of bureaucratic bottlenecks and gray areas in policy and practice to thrive. Much like cancer cells that collaborate in a parasitic manner with other rogue cells in order to thrive, so also do terror groups, and indeed all illicit traffic organizations cooperate to thrive so that whenever there is news of terrorist activity, you can be sure that there’s a whole parasitic ecosystem of illicit groups and organizations that made it happen.
As cancerous cells communicate chemically, support each others survival, recruit immune cells, build blood supplies (angiogenesis) and coordinate metastasis to form a network that helps it survive at the expense of the body, so also various illicit groups such as rogue arms dealers, drug runners, corrupt law agents, human traffickers, cyber criminals, money launderers, smuggling rings and more, cooperate to create a networked ecosystem of insecurity that is highly adaptive, and spreading through interconnected cells that communicate, collaborate, and reinforce one another. Defeating it requires an equally intelligent and sophisticated ecosystem of cooperation between Nigeria’s security agencies and their regional and international partners.
As it turns out, Pluto’s 20 year transit in Aquarius is to transform the architecture of networks from the roots, through out of the box global cooperation, structural reform, institutional integration, stronger governance, resilient systems and trusted partnerships. It is quite possible that by the end of the transit, global and local security agencies will be almost inseparable, sharing intelligence, technology, logistics, and coordinated strategies across national borders. Uranus in Gemini on the hand is speeding up the process intelligence gathering and dissemination. Both outer planets in Air signs at this time provides a deeply cooperative energy of collaboration for intelligence systems to get ahead.
Uranus in Gemini 12th house of Nigeria is beaming its searchlight on hidden networks in a big way. This 7-year transit is one in which security agencies gain significant mileage over terror organizations, drug cartels, trafficking networks and routes that enable these atrocious acts to take place beneath the awareness of many. Again, Pluto transiting Aquarius in our 8th house is in alliance with Uranus in Gemini 12th on so many levels, to expose hidden networks through strong, intentional alliances between security agencies, even on regional and global levels.
Beware the Fog
A significant backdrop to the Uranus transit of our hidden realms is the fact that transit Neptune in Aries is currently squaring up to Nigeria’s natal Mars on the Ascendant.
Mars represents military action, security forces, national defense, strategic response, and the instinct for self-protection.
Neptune, on the other hand, can dissolve clarity and create fogs around the truth. When these two planets interact, threats often become more difficult to define. The visible challenge may not be the whole challenge. Hidden actors, misinformation, competing agendas, unclear motives, and covert influences can complicate efforts to respond effectively.
The result is that the security landscape may be more complex than it appears, a fact that we clearly saw in the Orire school kidnapping case. The terrorists were literally operating in the thick jungle, where sunlight hardly penetrates due to the thick canopy of tree branches, so much so that visibility from above was nearly impossible. It took 57 days of deep intelligence gathering for the rescue mission to yield gratifying results. The fog created by transit Neptune square natal Mars continues and doesn’t completely lift till about the end of 1st quarter of 2028.
I sense that the Neptune-square-Mars fog and Uranus transit in the hidden realm are a duo, working together to provide the necessary cooperative environment for security forces to get to the root of things. Remember that it’s not just about exposure, but what we can see and understand from the exposure that helps with lasting solutions. The security agencies at this time must be supported by all Nigerians in whatever ways we can. Kudos to the entire team of forces not just for the successful rescue of the Orire 44, but for the way of intelligence deployed to make it happen.
These are the days when information warfare and perception management, especially through social media, covert influence, and unseen networks, prove just as important as conventional military engagement. Neptune’s challenge to natal Mars could also draw attention to hidden economies that thrive in conditions of limited transparency. Smuggling operations, illicit trade, human trafficking, trafficking routes, and concealed funding mechanisms are areas where significant change and transformation could and should occur within the 7-year window.
Youth, Technology, and New Voices
What happens when the Planet of disruption, innovation and awakening enters the hidden house of a nation whose greatest resource is its youth? So much has been said already that if you take a wild guess, you are likely not to miss. Gemini governs youth, education, communication, language, media, learning, and the exchange of ideas. Uranus brings disruption, exposure, innovation, liberation, and the sudden amplification or destabilization of voices previously ignored. Yes, new youth voices could emerge while disruptive youth voices may meet with sudden reckoning depending on how authorities handle the pressure of youth restiveness and disruption. Some youth voices become impossible to ignore and gain unprecedented visibility through technology, social media, decentralized platforms, and alternative networks.
With this transit and considering other cycles going on, such as Pluto’s cycle in Aquarius, youth voices (such as those who can emerge through political groups such as the City Boy Movement), gifts, grievances, skills, competencies, and intelligence can no longer be easily dismissed. Beyond young people using technology, the transit shines light on hidden sufferings of the youth, bullying, addiction, traumas, the imprisoned and forgotten, economic exclusion in significant spaces and those whose potentials have been subsumed under weak systems, and can bring sudden visibility to underdogs, whistleblowers and innovators operating outside of the system.
The current transit of Pluto in Aquarius in Nigeria’s 8th house deepens these themes. Being concerned with deep-rooted transformation, crisis, death-and-rebirth processes, shared resources such as taxes, hidden power, debt, trauma, and psychological intensity, the transformation that could occur would be far from superficial. Looking at it alongside Uranus in Gemini in the 12th,the symbolism points to a liberating period in which the hidden pain of the youth population, their intelligence and technological capacity, becomes glaringly visible and receives much-needed attention. But the same transit can also expose to a greater degree the shadows of neglect such as drug abuse, cybercrime, online manipulation, radicalization, despair, unemployment, and the psychological effects of living without a clear path into the future. This is where we remember poor Nigerian youths being rescued from forceful participation in the killings of innocent fellow citizens by terrorists. What is the way forward for such people? What is the country doing to deeply transform their lives with the understanding that they are us and we are them?
Clearly, Nigeria can no longer afford to treat youth development as charity or political rhetoric.
Prisons, Hospitals, and Hidden Populations
The 7-year transit of Uranus also shines light on the plight of prisoners and detention systems. Prison facilities and conditions of prisoners call for compassion, repatriation of Nigerians stranded and/or imprisoned abroad, such as we saw with the return of Nigerians in South Africa and the Foreign Minister going to Ethiopia to negotiate the return of Nigerian prisoners to complete their prison sentences here at home. That move from Minister Bianca Ojukwu demonstrated a master stroke of compassion and love for the homeland. The season carries within it the plight of the less privileged, seeking greater visibility for marginalized populations.
The 7-year transit also shines light on substance abuse and addiction, rehabilitation, and mental health issues. This is the time for significant leverage to be made concerning the management of drug abuse and mental health issues. The period offers in-depth revelations, exposure, and insight that serve as a springboard for decisive action to be taken in the war against drug abuse. With the sign that carries escapism and drug abuse placed on the midheaven of Nigeria, it is not out of place to ask to what extent Nigerians are predisposed to drug abuse. Also, Hospitality and Medical Tourism are thematically possible areas of investment that can drive national reputation for the country.
Conditions in hospitals and health care institutions, hotels and hospitality are being more publicly discussed.
Season of Constitutional Reforms
Uranus governs the House of Parliament, and groups that gather around shared interests; and in its time in Gemini, writing and rewriting terms of engagement, or what we call national constitutions, is a prominent theme that can be expected.
Uranus in Gemini expresses itself through writing and rewriting national narratives that define us through constitutional reform. Pluto in Aquarius during this time means that these reforms can be sweeping and far-reaching, reforming for greater inclusivity and a more progressive future through constitutional reform.
Nigeria is not the only country currently in the midst of constitutional reform – Zimbabwe, Senegal, Tunisia, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo are on the train too. Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali and Guinea are also debating constitutional reform for transitioning to civilian rule. During the Uranus transit, pertinent constitutional and governance questions regarding federalism and representation, citizenship and resource allocation, national cohesion, reassessment of government structures, especially the conversation around local governments, state police and true decentralization of governance naturally arise.
